Emergency Services

IN AN EMERGENCY, FIRST AND FOREMOST, REMAIN CALM. BEFORE YOU CALL YOUR VETERINARIAN:

Assess your horse’s condition to the best of your abilities. This information will help the veterinarian determine the severity of the condition and be better prepared to provide prompt and efficient treatment upon arrival. When given accurate, detailed information, the veterinarian can often suggest a course of action for you, prior to arrival at the horse’s location. Remember to provide detailed directions and a phone number where you can be reached.
Steinbeck Country Equine Clinic provides urgent, emergency and critical care veterinary service, both at our regional facility in Salinas and in the field via our mobile service. Our hospital is open 24/7 – 365 days/year to receive sick horses referred by practices throughout the region. A veterinarian is on-site at all times to oversee in-patient horses, and a surgeon and anesthetist are always on-call for emergency surgeries. We also provide emergency healthcare for horses at home, at show sites and in the field, when bringing the horse into the clinic may be impractical.
